Registration is underway for Sealy Outdoors' Big Bass Splash 'Fall Shootout,' which will take place Saturday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 22 at Lake Sam Rayburn. Unlike the annual springtime, amateur-only Big Bass Splash event, the 'Fall Shootout' will feature amateur and professional anglers vying for the title and grand prize -- a 2017 Triton 18 TRX, powered by Mercury Marine, equipped with Minn Kota, Lowrance, Power Pole and Navionics.
The winner will also receive $5,000 cash.

A portion of the registration proceeds will go to benefit Hurricane Harvey Relief, along with St. Jude Children's Research.

When: Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22
• Registration at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Beaumont on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. and in Lufkin on Thursday, October 12 from 6pm-7pm.
• Onsite Registration will take place Umphrey Family Pavilion from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20.
• Registration will continue each morning from 5am until 6am on days of the tournament.
Ten hourly payouts -- beginning with the 7 a.m.-8 a.m. hour -- grand prize packages, exact weights and open drawings are among the ways anglers can win a portion of the $168,000 guaranteed cash and prizes.
Anglers can register at Beaumont's Academy Sports & Outdoors on Wednesday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. and in Lufkin's store on Thursday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.
Onsite registration will take place at the Umphrey Family Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 20 from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. and will continue each morning from 5 a.m.-6 a.m. on the tournament dates.
Participants and spectators 18 and up are eligible for the open drawing, beginning at 1 p.m. Oct. 22.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 17)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 70 degrees; 5.19 feet below pool. Navigate with caution to avoid sandbars and stumps. Bass are on points and drains in shallow water spawning, and some are in a post spawn biting crankbaits and Carolina rigs. Some topwater along the grass edges. Crappie are fair in the shallows near stumps and fair on the brush piles. Some crappie are spawning near cypress trees, wade anglers can target these. White bass are schooling on main lake points but not surfacing yet. Catch some with jigs, minnows, crankbaits and jigging spoons. Catfish are slowly moving back to the points. Bass are good keying on hard clay points, grass edges and flooded timber with swim jigs, chatterbaits, topwater spooks or pop-r’s. Offshore bite is 10-20 feet on hard spots and flats, points and creek channel swings using crankbaits, Carolina rigs, shaky heads and dropshots.
