After Hurricane Rita, my wife and I were determined to make lemonade out of the lemons that it left. We built a place in a small subdivision (Concord Hill) where folks who love nature, re-cycling, and the water could come and enjoy. Our Nut House is built almost exclusively of trees uprooted and broken by Rita. Each room is finished from lumber cut from downed trees left in the wake of Rita. Oak, pine, magnolia, cedar, and red maple make up the walls of each room in this house. It is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. We call it the Lakeside Nut House because “we” had to be nuts to undertake this project. We have lots of shoreline, nearby beaches, several nearby boat launches,a hidden cove for parking boats and great fishing, not to mention the peace and quiet of the Angelina National Forest. We also have a fully equipped fish-cleaning station and power outlets to recharge boat batteries at the rental and in the cove. The map below does not accurately depict where we are located. We are 20 miles from Jasper in the Concord Hill subdivision which is about 7 miles from the Sam Rayburn Dam. Our Nut House is made to order for a relaxing time on and near the water. Come try our Nut House and enjoy yourself.
