Guilott and Hensley Dominate Labor Day Tournament

According to some, Rayburn has been fishing tough and being stingy. Howard Guilott and Brad Hensley did not get the memo. Their THREE fish limit weighed 22.68 pounds leaving them over 6 pounds heavier than the second place team! Included in their stringer was an 8.90 pound giant that also won Daiwa Big Bass honors. Guilott and Hensley left the Cassels Boykin Pavilion with $2,700 in cash plus a Daiwa Tatula SV reel.

On any other day, a 16.27 pound stringer would win a three fish tournament, but it did not happen that way for the team of Dean Perkins and Sam Huckabee. They finished the day in second place winning $1,800. Third place was nailed down by Brian Schott and Scott Gill with their sack of fish weighing 15.66 pounds. Their day on the water was worth $1,480. Rounding out the top four places was Purcell Sigler and Tommy Washington with 14.71 pounds anchored by a giant of their own tipping the scales at 8.24 pounds. Sigler and Washington took home $1,200 for their efforts.

Going into the tournament, the team of Bubba Frazier and Tommy Hill were leading the Outlaw Of The Year standings. Frazier and Hill were not only able to hang on to their lead, but they managed to extend their lead by a few points. With only one tournament left in the OOY race, there are three teams that could possibly walk away with the trophy.

There were a total of 94 teams that braved the extreme Labor Day heat. We appreciate each and every one of you coming out and supporting Outlaw Outdoors. This was the last of our 3 fish tournaments for 2019. We look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks for the V&M Tournament on September 15 at Cassels Boykin Pavilion.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 70 degrees; 3.49 feet below pool. Navigate with caution to avoid sandbars and stumps. Bass are on points and drains in shallow water spawning, and some are in a post spawn biting crankbaits and Carolina rigs. Some topwater along the grass edges. Crappie are fair in the shallows near stumps and fair on the brush piles. Some crappie are spawning near cypress trees, wade anglers can target these. White bass are schooling on main lake points but not surfacing yet. Catch some with jigs, minnows, crankbaits and jigging spoons. Catfish are slowly moving back to the points. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service. Shad spawn is in full swing. Bass are good keying on hard clay points, grass edges and flooded timber with swim jigs, chatterbaits, topwater spooks or pop-r’s. Offshore bite is 10-20 feet on hard spots and flats, points and creek channel swings using crankbaits, Carolina rigs, shaky heads and dropshots. Crappie have finished spawning in 12-20 feet of water on brush piles and standing timber. Report by Captain Hank Harrison, Double H Precision Fishing.
