Lake Sam Rayburn

Because Life is Better at the Lake

Sam Rayburn Fishing Report for December 23, 2017

Reel um in Guide Service
Come join me for a fun and enjoyable fishing trip on legendary Lake Sam Rayburn for Bass or Crappie. Spend a day in the shadow of an eagle's nest or watch one soar overhead. Fish among flocks of mallards, cormorants, coots, pelicans and other migratory birds that call Rayburn home during the fall & winter.

Water Temp.58
Normal pool 164.40
Water Clarity 2 feet
Sam Rayburn is now at 161.48

Bass ; There is a ton of matted grass out there the fish are using as cover making it tough to get to them. Working some soft plastics over it can entice a few bites. The Stanley Top Toad is another good bait that works well over the grass. The crankbait bite has been fair with some fish caught in the 6 to 12 feet range. Pull them down into the grass and slowly work back to the boat. The Trap bite has been pretty good and will always catch some fish around the grass. The deep bite has been slow with all the grass up shallow holding the fish.

Crappie The crappie have been moving up river and it’s been on and off. We are planning on making several trips up there after the New Year to get some fish located. The new pontoon has plenty of room for everyone so get your trips booked early for 2018. There is plenty of shade and a changing room and port- o- potty, just in case. We love to watch the kids catch fish. The excitement on the boat is just unbelievable as the kids set a hook and enjoy the fight.

White Bass: The White bass will be kicking off the New Year and can be a lot of excitement for everyone. We have had trips with 50 to 100 caught.

God Bless

Lynn Atkinson
