Boulware and Collins earn a check

Outlaw Outdoors Tournaments reports that with the warmer temperatures, everybody was itching to get back on Sam Rayburn Lake. There were 63 teams show up to fish the first Sweet Sixteen Sunday Series. Nine teams brought in bags over 16 lbs earning themselves a check.

Taking first place and bringing in 20.03 lbs was the team of Clayton Boulware and Albert Collins. Those guys both had sub-par showing on Saturday in the BFL, but were able to regroup and put together a bag good enough to take first in the Sweet Sixteen on Sunday.

Big bass honors went to the first team that crossed the scales Sunday, Will and Collin Lloyd. Collin's catch of a 7.01 lber won the father-son duo $250 cash courtesy of Tri Lakes Tackle, 2 Pride Rods ($600 value) and $100 worth of V&M Baits product. The duo also cashed a check for 8th place overall. Not a bad day on the water for those two!

Thanks to the 63 teams that fished, $1071 as added to the Championship pot.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 24)

SLOW. Water stained; 80 degrees; 7.35 feet below pool. The lake is slowly falling, creating lots of humps and shallow areas, so boaters should use caution. Water temperature is around 90 degrees, and bass are being caught shallow on points and pockets with topwater frogs and senkos, while crankbaits are working on points and drains and jigs or Carolina rigs are producing off ledges and structure. Crappie are starting to stack up on brush and timber, white bass are schooling off points, and catfish have moved into deeper water and creek channels with cut bait working well. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service.
