Lake Conditions: The water level is currently 167.7msl, which is almost 4 feet high. Water clarity is slightly stained in the back of creeks, with cleaner water in main lake areas.
Fishing Report:
The majority of bass are in the post spawn phase, with some stragglers that should be moving up the next full moon (May 21st).
Look for primary and secondary lake points with grass or other cover that shad can use to spawn around. Fish feeding on spawning shad can make for an exciting top water bite. When fishing top water baits I like to throw a yellow magic, or a ribbit frog next to any cover available. Spinnerbaits, flukes, chatter baits, swimbaits, and shallow crankbaits will work as well. Later in the day use Texas rigged or Carolina rigged soft plastics to target deeper fish on outside grass lines.
You can also target post spawn bass that have moved out to deeper water in 14-25 foot. Search for these fish with a football jig or deep diving crankbait on points and humps.
