Frankens & Barchenger Last Team Standing

At the end of Round #1, two teams really shined above the rest. The newly formed team of Aaron Freeman and Kevin Walker brought in the heaviest stringer of the round with 19.51 pounds followed by Wyatt Frankens and Cody Barchenger with 18.33 pounds. The next closest team was 3 pounds behind.

The teams went back out for another 4.5 hour round. Round #2 again proved that Frankens and Barchenger had something special figured out when they brought 17.39 pounds to the scales. Freeman and Walker still had a solid Round #2 with 16.40 pounds. Another team turned some heads in Round #2. Jerry Mason and Glenn Blanchard weighed in the biggest limit of the whole day with 19.60 pounds.

Championship Sunday saw 10 teams competing for the $10,000 payout. With this round lasting a full 8 hours, everyone knew to expect to see heavier results. Freeman and Walker did not disappoint when they dropped 18.15 pounds on the scales which proved their consistency on Day 1 was not just a fluke. Shortly thereafter, an underdog team of Cody Woods & Robert Jones slipped up on the rest of the field with a 5 fish limit weighing 18.88 pounds. The 20 pound barrier was finally busted when Brian Lowrance and Danny Cross locked in the scales at 20.62 pounds, but no one even came close to besting the monster bag brought in by Frankens & Barchenger. Their 5 fish weighed in at 26.48 pounds and let them take home the $5,000 check and the coveted title of The Last Team Standing.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 17)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 70 degrees; 5.19 feet below pool. Navigate with caution to avoid sandbars and stumps. Bass are on points and drains in shallow water spawning, and some are in a post spawn biting crankbaits and Carolina rigs. Some topwater along the grass edges. Crappie are fair in the shallows near stumps and fair on the brush piles. Some crappie are spawning near cypress trees, wade anglers can target these. White bass are schooling on main lake points but not surfacing yet. Catch some with jigs, minnows, crankbaits and jigging spoons. Catfish are slowly moving back to the points. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service. Shad spawn is in full swing. Bass are good keying on hard clay points, grass edges and flooded timber with swim jigs, chatterbaits, topwater spooks or pop-r’s. Offshore bite is 10-20 feet on hard spots and flats, points and creek channel swings using crankbaits, Carolina rigs, shaky heads and dropshots. Crappie have finished spawning in 12-20 feet of water on brush piles and standing timber. Report by Captain Hank Harrison, Double H Precision Fishing.
