LBAA Tournament benefiting Camp Gold Star

Outdoor Freedom Network has agreed to host the first National Ladies Professional Bass Fishing Tournament ever held for Professional and High School Anglers fishing to support Camp Gold Star, a program of trauma recovery supported by a group of Texas based charities. The agreement is with the LBAA who operates the Women’s Pro Bass Tour. Under the agreement the LBAA will be the organizer, promoter and professionally manage the Pro side of the event that will be part of their LBAA 2017 Event Series.

OFN founder, Terry Sympson commented, “We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting this event here at Jackson Hill Park and Marine. This gives us a great opportunity to bring the best women bass anglers in the world together with local high school anglers to fish for Camp Gold Star, a program designed to use fishing and time outdoors for men, women and children who are recovering from trauma at war and at home.”

Cheryl Bowden, one of the Co-Founders of the LBAA recommended “This is such a unique opportunity to bring our Women’s Bass Tour back to Sam Rayburn and to help bring awareness to the significant role that fishing can play in the recovery process for our Gold Star Families, combat veterans, disabled lady veterans and their families. A program like this will give many more people the therapeutic effects the unscheduled time in the outdoors, especially fishing, has in trauma recovery.”

The date for the tournament is set for March 17-18 with the Womens’ tour event on Friday and Saturday. The Saturday event will include high school teams from the Deep East Texas High School Fishing Series. Some of he lady pros and local volunteers will also take Gold Star Families, combat vets, and disabled lady veterans fishing during this event.

More information about the weekend can be found at Jackson Hill Marine, www.outdoorfreedom.net, www.ladybassanglers.com, and www.reelvetsfishon.org.
