November DETX Qualifier won by Huntington's Boles and Stringer

Abram Boles and Addy Stringer from Huntington High School lead the field of 84 boats with a limit of bass that weighed 17.91 lbs. Addy caught the days big fish an 8.33 lb giant to edge out the second place team from Evans High School who managed to catch a 7.83 lb kicker but fell just under Boles and Stringer with 17.60 lbs of Rayburn's green gold. Third place went to Deweyville's Matthew Williams who fished alone but still managed to net his own 6.68 lb big girl while coming to the scales with 17.16 lbs.

The tournament marked the emergence of the lady anglers who have produced big fish to win or place their team in the top three spots for the first two tournaments of the year.

"What we are seeing is that the lady anglers are serious about competing and winning" said Terry Sympson from Jackson Hill Marina." In the four years that high school fishing has been around it has attracted younger student anglers, boys and girls to get hooked on bass fishing. The young anglers are learning quickly and practicing harder to find their place on the stage.

The winning team of each DETX qualifier also receives a paid entry into the Texas Fallen Heroes Open Youth Championship taking place next June. The tournament also included a Veterans Day tribute and thank you to all veterans and a standing ovation for those present for the weigh in.

Robert "Buck" Collins was on hand to talk to the audience and present hats from our local Wounded Warrior Association of East Texas to the winners. Buck is a retired Special Forces member who was severely wounded in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded a Silver Star for Valor in Combat during his amazing service to our country.
