Last Team Standing Tournament

What a difference a day can make! Sunday proved to be much better fishing for most of the anglers. When the scales closed for the 18 teams competing in the Consolation Bracket, the team of Justin Morton and Randy Turner topped the other 17 teams in the Consolation Bracket with their stringer of 16.40 pounds. The duo of Skeeter Fowler and Brian Robison was not far behind with 15.80 pounds. Morton and Turner took home $1,550 for their weekend of work. Fowler and Robison fared well also winning a total of $1,050.

The nine teams that qualified for the Winners Bracket on Championship Sunday definitely brought their A-Game. Upon the conclusion of the round we saw three stringers over 20 pounds come across the scales, with one being the largest stringer we have seen weighed in on Rayburn in several months.

The team of Dicky Newberry and Ken Smith, contrary to their mediocre performance on Saturday, proved they are well deserving of their Rayburn Reputation. Their stringer of 28.74 pounds, including an 11.23 pound monster, gave them the title of The Last Team Standing. They not only took home the championship, but with their 11.23 lunker they weighed in, they took over the lead for The Scottie's Reproductions Monster Mount with only one event left in 2018. Newberry and Smith left Cassels Boykin Pavilion $4,400 richer.

Jordan Osborne and Steven Stroman had an impressive day as well finishing second with 23.03 pounds, and winning a combined $3,200 for the weekend.

The local legends continued to prove their worth with Albert Collins and Glenn Freeman finishing out the top three with 20.57 pounds, earning them $1,600 total.

NEWBERRY TAKES LEAD IN MONSTER MOUNT

Will Lloyd had been the leader, with a 9.63 pound bass, for the Monster Mount since our Father's Day Tournament, but Dicky Newberry ended Lloyd's reign on Sunday. Newberry brought in a true Rayburn giant tipping the scales at 11.23 pounds. If that fish keeps the lead, Newberry will receive a free replica of his fish from Scottie's Reproductions. Lucas is no stranger to producing big replicas; he produces all of the replicas for both the Toledo Lunkers Program and the Toledo Sharelunkers Program.
